Miss West Duluth Pageant
Welcome to the official home page of the Miss West Duluth Pageant! As we are new at designing and creating web pages, please bear with us in this time of learning and of transition. Stop back often to see our progress and our updates! For the past thirteen years, the Miss West Duluth Pageant has served as the official kick-off to West Duluth's Spirit Valley Days Festival. Located in Northern Minnesota, the Spirit Valley Days Festival offers great family activities such as a parade, street dance, pancake breakfast, food and refreshment vendors, and children's games. The festival is held each year during the first week of August.
Girls between the ages of 14 to 18 years are encouraged to enter the Miss West Duluth Pageant. Contestants must live within the Duluth Denfeld School District; however, it is not a requirement to attend Denfeld High School.
What are pageant contestants judged on? Contestants in the Miss West Duluth Pageant are judged in several categories, including a style show and commentary, a personal interview, and an essay. However, while contestants do participate in modeling competitions, the Miss West Duluth Pageant does not factor physical beauty into the contestant's scores. THE MISS WEST DULUTH PAGEANT IS NOT A BEAUTY PAGEANT! For details on our judging categories and criteria, please see our "About" page. In addition to our standard judging categories that allow us to select a Queen and a Princess, Miss West Duluth contestants are also offered the chance to compete in several optional competitions, including Miss Congeniality, Academic Achievement, and Volunteer Service.
What prizes and awards does the pageant offer? The Miss West Duluth Pageant now awards over two thousand dollars annually in prizes and scholarhips! As a contestant in the pageant, you will be eligible to win your share of great prizes, including savings bonds, large rhinestone crowns, hand-embroidered satin banners, trophies, crown pins, and gift bags filled with fun gifts and treats!
